A Special Thank You to All Who Took Part in Our 200th Anniversary Virtual Event

On behalf of all English High School alumni and supporters, EHSA extends a heartfelt “Thank You” to the people who took part in our Virtual Celebration. The support we received from leaders at the community, city, state, and federal level was overwhelming.

In some cases we had to make very difficult editing decisions when producing our 200th Anniversary Virtual Event video. So that everyone in the English High community has an opportunity to view these important messages in their entirety, there are presented here.

Our 200th Anniversary Virtual Celebration Was A Huge Success!

On October 2nd, 2021, hundreds of alumni, family members, students, faculty and supporters of The English High School of Boston came together online to kick-off our 200th Anniversary Celebration.

Highlights of the evening included a 45-minute video presentation titled “‘Daring to Dream” and narrated by EHSA Board Chairman Greg Hayes ’67. The video traced English High School’s proud history and vision for the future. The video also featured and message from Michael Thomas ’67, President/CEO, EHSA and Chair of the 200th celebration plus Tuskegee Airman Enoch Woodhouse II ’44  remembering how his English High experience molded his life.

Participating alumni represented classes from the 1940s to 2021. Among the VIPs bringing congratulatory remarks during the ‘Daring to Dream’ video were Governor Charles Baker, Boston Mayor Kim Janey, Senators Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren, the Honorable Martin Walsh, Boston Schools Superintendent Dr. Brenda Cassellius, and many others.  Event Co-Chairs were Pam Everhart, SVP, Fidelity Investments, and John Talbot ‘68 Founder/CEO of Pathways Healthcare LLC. Karen Holmes Ward, host of WCVB’s CityLine was our emcee for the event.

Following the video, attendees enjoyed online breakout Reunion Rooms where they had the opportunity to reconnect and reminisce.

The program marked the official launch of our multi-year 200th Anniversary Fund Campaign.  Our goal is to raise $1 million during 2021 and attain $3 million in the next few years. Funds raised will be earmarked to meet the needs of English High School students which are not met by BPS.  These will include scholarships, learning enhancements, the Technical Pathways Program, a tutoring program and more.
