The Stella & Emmanuel Mavridis Scholarship

This year EHSA is proud to once again work with Mr. George Mavridis, the proud son of an English High School alumnus, to select outstanding recipients of the Stella and Emmanuel Marvidis Scholarships. Selection of winners for this scholarship is a team effort between Mr. Mavridis and Sage Marsters, director of the EHS Alumni & Friends Tutoring Center on the English High campus.

This year’s recipients of the Mavridis Scholarship are Sarelis Arias Vasquez and Keyarah French.  Next fall, Sarelis will begin studies in the Nursing program at Simmons University and Keyarah will enroll at Bridgewater State. All of us at the English High School Association wish these two young women the very best and we are confident they have bright futures ahead.  Additionally, Habiba Osman, Laura Paulino,  and Muniira Hirsi were recognized and received an award as Finalists in the competition.  In the fall Habiba will attend Framingham State, Laura is heading to Massachusetts College of Art and Design and Muniira will attend Simmons University.

2023 Nollman Family Scholarship Recipient Muniira Hirsi

The Nollman Family Scholarship

2023 is just the second year for The Nollman Family Scholarship established by Myron “Mike” Nollman ’52. This year’s scholarship recipient is Muniira Hirsi who plans to attend Simmons University in the fall.

A few days before the Senior Class Award Ceremony was scheduled to be held at English, Mike Thomas of EHSA reached out to Mr. Nollman to ask if there was a special message he would like to give to the scholarship winner.  Mr. Nollman’s response was,

“I am delighted to help such a worthy student. Her becoming a successful caring adult is all one can ask for. She is on her way. You can use my words for her and I am disappointed I cannot attend. Conclude to her, ‘Be proud of yourself, with your accomplishments and the person you have become.'”

The English High School Association congratulates all of the Class of 2023 on their success.
We know you will do amazing things!
