For Camila Goncalves ’24, Recipient of the Errol L.C. Brown Memorial Scholarship, Her Road to Success Runs Through UMASS Amherst

EHSA is always excited to follow the journeys of our scholarship recipients as they embark on their college careers. This month, we checked in with Camila Goncalves, 2024 winner of our Errol L.C. Brown Memorial scholarship, to hear about her first year at UMASS Amherst.

Camila, a proud graduate of The English High School’s Class of 2024, is currently double majoring in Biology and Psychology at UMASS Amherst and expects to graduate in 2028. She shared that her experiences at EHS helped prepare her for college, particularly her AP classes and the dedicated teachers who not only equipped her for the heavy workload but also emphasized the importance of maintaining good mental health. Thanks to this strong foundation, her transition to college has been very smooth.

Camila offers encouraging advice to current EHS students: “Keep pushing through, you got this.” Reflecting on her college experience so far, she shares, “I think coming to this college was the best decision I ever made for myself—I love it.”
