Four Past and Present Heads of English High School Gather at the 200th Anniversary Gala to Kick-Off A $3 Million Multi-year Fundraising Campaign
Alumni representing a dozen states and spanning eight decades were joined by supporters, current and past staff, and students at the 200th Anniversary Gala of America’s first public high school, The English High School of Boston. In all, well over 300 attended the historic milestone.
Especially memorable was a rare gathering of three former EHS Heads along with the current Head. Leaning on giant, illuminated EHS letters are (left to right) Sid Smith (1984-92), Ligia Noriega-Murphy (2012-17), Caitlin Murphy (current), and Jose Duarte (2000-09).
The English High School Association, which kicked off a $3 million multi-year campaign at the Gala, raises funds for scholarships and for enrichment programs that support students’ academic and career goals. These include Scholarships. the Alumni & Friends Tutoring Center, Career Pathways and the Music & Arts Program.
