English High School Today

Meet Ms. K. Taboh, English High’s Computer Teacher

Ms. K

How did you become a teacher and how did you end up at EHS?

Coming from a professional background in corporate web development and client-facing roles, I quickly learned how essential clear communication is—especially when collaborating with non-technical stakeholders. The ability to break down complex concepts in a way that made sense not only helped my colleagues move projects forward more efficiently, but also helped clients feel informed and involved in the development process. Communication is one of the most important soft skills in tech—not only for collaboration and problem-solving, but also for building trust, leading teams, and bridging the gap between ideas and execution.

That strength in communication naturally led me to tutoring college students and adult learners online, which eventually inspired me to take on a role as a lead teaching fellow and curriculum specialist at a local coding bootcamp. I also launched my own business to continue helping women build their skills and confidence in tech. I’ve always loved watching students hit their “aha” moments, and as someone who is deeply committed to increasing diversity in the tech industry, I realized that the most meaningful impact I could make would be to share my knowledge with the next generation.

Through my professional network, the position at English High School was introduced to me, and I knew right away it was a perfect fit. Working at EHS has given me the opportunity to combine my industry experience with my passion for teaching—and to help students see themselves as future engineers in tech.
