English Beats Latin 66-42!
More About Our Record-Breaking Thanksgiving Day Rout

Terrell Gethers, EHS halfback, carries the ball. He racked up 10 carries and 2 TD’s.

Thanksgiving 2021 was especially meaningful for English High School alumni and students as the EHS football team enjoyed a thrilling record-breaking win over rival Boston Latin, 66-42 at Harvard Stadium. Head Coach Ryan Conway, ’89, expressed his gratitude to the alumni for the donation of new helmets and NFL-ready headsets. They worked!  Much progress has been made this year by English High students who continue to show encouraging academic performance, supported by the expanding Alumni & Friends Tutoring Center.

Coming off the thrilling victory, Coach Conway was named MIAA Coach of the Week. The award was presented by Andre Tippett, Executive Director of Community Affairs for the New England Patriots.  Currently in his seventh season with the EHS football program as a coach and former player, he guided his team to their first victory over Latin since 2013. Asked about his key to success, he said, “You need to coach them hard. Kick them in the butt when they need to be kicked, and hug them when they need to be hugged. There was a lot of hugging because we kicked a lot of butt.”
