A festive Caribbean atmosphere set the tone for an unforgettable school reunion this month, where alumni gathered to celebrate friendship, school pride and the extraordinary life of a 100-year-old graduate who once helped break barriers as a Tuskegee Airman.

The English High School of Boston’s All-Class Reunion brought together alumni from multiple generations for an evening of music, food and memories, while organizers honored centenarian veteran, Brigadier General Enoch ‘Woody’ Woodhouse, Class of 1944, for both his military service and his enduring connection to the school community.

A replica of a Tuskegee RedTail airplane model was presented to EHS by Marco Altobello of the Museum of Aviation. Built by Bob Desourdis, the plane will be on permanent display at EHS.

English High, America’s first free public high school, is marking its 205th anniversary. The EHS band members kicked off the event with a drum line ceremony.

Welcoming the crowd of over 180 were Board Chair Greg Hayes, Head of School Caitlin Murphy, and EHS Alum and Boston City Councilor Miniard Culpepper.
