Two Recent English High Grads Selected as Co-Emcees for 200th Anniversary Gala on October 1st

Two recent alumni of The English High School have been named as Co-Masters of Ceremonies for the school’s 200th Anniversary Gala set for October 1 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel.

Blanca Ramirez Pablo ’22

Serving as a Co-Emcee will be Blanca Ramirez Pablo, ‘22, a native of Guatemala who spoke no English when she entered English High. She is now starting her freshman year at Boston University. She plans to be part of the healthcare field “no matter how difficult it is,” and credits the EHS Tutoring Center and the Career Pathways program for the confidence and inspiration to study Health Assisting and to obtain a basic understanding of medicine.

Thomas Thermidor ’21

The second Co-Emcee will be Thomas Thermidor, ‘21, who is just starting his sophomore year at Babson College where he received a full scholarship, majoring in Business / Entrepreneurship. Thomas has been elected the youngest member of the English High School Association Board of Directors. Both he and Blanca earned the prestigious Stella and Emmanuel Mavridis Scholarship awarded by the Alumni and Friends Tutoring Center.

Co-Chairs of the 200th Anniversary Gala are EHS alumni representing three different decades: John Talbot, ’68, founder of Pathways Healthcare; Allan Kiser, ’82, Vice President at Fidelity Investments; and Migdalia Nalls, ’97, a trial attorney for the Youth Advocacy Division of the Committee for Public Counsel Service, defending young people charged with delinquent/criminal charges.

English High, established in 1821, was America’s first public high school and boasts an impressive ‘Who’s Who’ list of notable alumni who have impacted every aspect of American life.
