English High Basketball Team Plans Travel to Orlando Tournament — Looking for Support
Team has been fundraising for travel expenses and is more than half-way to goal. You can help by enjoying a great meal at Blue Ribbon BBQ Restaurant on September 16th.
The English High School Boys’ Basketball team is planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Orlando where they have been invited to participate in a national Basketball Tournament taking place December 19-23. Head Coach Eric Mckoy, himself an EHS alumnus, has reached out to English alumni to support the team’s fundraising efforts.
“I personally believe that this trip will be educational and inspiring for our students to see basketball outside of Boston. It will give these kids a memory-of-a-lifetime that they will never ever forget”– Coach Eric Mckoy, EHS ’95
Coach Mckoy reports that while the team is already well over half-way to their goal, fundraising is still needed. English High Alumni and supporters can help in two ways:
- Enjoy a Great BBQ Meal on September 16, 2022. Two locations of Boston-area’s Blue Ribbon Barbecue restaurants are staging a fundraiser event for the team on Friday, September 16 from 11am to 9pm. Visit the restaurant on this day and mention English High School when placing your order — and the team will receive 20% of what you spend. The locations are: 1375 Washington Street, West Newton (617) 332-2583 and 342 Washington Street, Dedham (781) 312-2583.
- Make a Gift to The English High School Association. When you make a gift before October 30 and designate the gift for “EHS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT” the association will see that your gift amount goes directly to the team.
