English High JROTC Program Takes Award in Statewide Raider Challenge Competition

EHS Raiders Challenge Team displays their trophy.

Lieutenant Colonel (R) David Bennet, Senior Army Instructor of the Army JROTC program at English High School reports that the school’s first JROTC Raiders Team in over ten years has excelled in their first competition against other high school from around the state of Massachusetts.

Under the leadership of Yonathan Alvarez, the EHS Raiders Team won a third place trophy in the First Aid/Litter Carry Station Competition.  “This is one of the more complicated, leadership-oriented, and difficult of all the stations at Raider Challenge.  For the contest, the English Team had to evaluate and treat a casualty following the four basic categories that spanned 25 different actions including carrying a 130 pound litter through, across and over a series of obstacles within a time limit.

Congratulations English High Raiders on your success!
