BPD visiting BPS EHS Feb 2026

Students from The English High School of Boston recently had an inspiring opportunity to learn about public service during a visit with members of the Boston Police Department—a powerful example of English High’s long-standing motto, “Service to Mankind.”

During the visit, members of the Boston Police Command Staff, SWAT Team, BPD Cadets, and partners from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department met with English High students to talk about public safety and career opportunities in law enforcement and community service. Officers shared their personal career paths, offered advice, and explained the many ways young people can pursue careers dedicated to protecting and serving their communities.

Students were highly engaged throughout the program, asking questions and learning about the different pathways into public safety careers. Programs like this help build connections between students and community leaders while inspiring the next generation to consider careers in service to the people of Boston.

For English High School, this experience reflects the school’s historic mission. Since its founding in 1821, the school has emphasized preparing students not only for careers but also for meaningful roles in society. Opportunities like this visit demonstrate how today’s students continue to carry forward the values that have guided generations of English High alumni.

The English High School Alumni Association is proud to see current students exploring careers in public service and building relationships with those who work every day to keep Boston safe.

By connecting with community leaders and learning about careers dedicated to helping others, English High students are living the school’s motto—“Service to Mankind”—and continuing a proud tradition that has defined English High for more than two centuries.
