📣 Celebrating the Life & Legacy of Coach Keith “Coach PK” Parker

It is with reverence and gratitude that we honor the life of Coach Keith Wesley Parker, a beloved figure in the Boston English High School community whose impact reached far beyond the sidelines. Coach Parker — affectionately known as Coach PK — passed away on January 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, mentorship, and remarkable dedication to our student-athletes, school, and community.
For more than three decades, Coach Parker made The English High School his home and his calling. He joined Boston Public Schools in 1977 and, soon after, began what would become a storied coaching career at English High that spanned 33 seasons, including 30 as Head Football Coach. Under his guidance, the Eagles soared to five City League Championships, five Super Bowl appearances, and two Super Bowl titles, including an unbeaten season in 1997 — feats that have become cornerstones of our football program’s proud tradition.
But Coach Parker’s impact was never measured by wins alone. He served as an Assistant Girls Basketball Coach, helping lead the girls team to the State Semi-Finals in 1986, and he enriched countless lives as a teacher, mentor, and father figure. His philosophy was simple yet profound: teach commitment, earn respect, and build loyalty — lessons our students carry well beyond their time at English High.
Coach Parker’s influence extends even into the present. In a 2021 English High Alumni spotlight featuring Coach Ryan Conway (EHS ’89) — a current pillar of our football program — Coach Parker was celebrated as one of the formative mentors in Conway’s development as a leader, coach, and role model. Coach Conway credits Coach Parker and others with laying the foundation for the character-driven culture that continues to define English High athletics today.
Beyond athletics, Coach Parker was known for his warmth, care, and personal generosity — whether it was ensuring a player felt supported, or sharing lessons on punctuality, perseverance, and believing in yourself. He encouraged countless young people to pursue their academic and personal goals with courage and heart.
Coach Parker earned many honors — including induction into both the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Boston English High School Hall of Fame, and twice being named Boston Globe Coach of the Year — but perhaps his greatest legacy is the countless lives he shaped through encouragement, example, and genuine care.
As we reflect on his life and celebrate his legacy, we remember Coach Parker not just as an outstanding coach, but as a mentor, guide, and friend whose spirit will continue to inspire Eagles for generations.
🦅 Thank you, Coach PK — for making English High a place where young people could grow not just as athletes, but as people.
