Billy Parkman memorial

It is with deep appreciation and fond remembrance that we honor the life of William “Billy” C. Parkman (Class of 1967), a beloved English High School graduate whose life exemplified service, faith, and devotion to family and community.
Billy passed peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving behind a legacy that reached far beyond the walls of our beloved alma mater. Born in Silver Creek, Mississippi, and raised in Roxbury, he carried the lessons learned at English High School, where he was a standout student-athlete on both the baseball and football teams, into every chapter of his life.
After graduating in 1967, Billy’s athletic talents earned him recruitment to play football for Hiram Scott College, and he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles—early signs of a life marked by perseverance and ambition.
But Billy’s impact extended far beyond athletics. With the same determination that made him a respected teammate, he pursued education and career with purpose. After further studies at Atlantic Union College, he built a long and respected career as building services supervisor at the College of the Holy Cross, serving colleagues with reliability, humility, and steady leadership.
A Life Guided by Faith and Integrity
Faith was central to Billy’s journey. As a devoted Deacon at the Brockton Seventh-day Adventist Church, he lived out the principles of compassion, stewardship, and community service that were central to his spiritual life. Friends and family recall his calm wisdom, his respectful kindness toward others, and his deep commitment to living in ways that uplifted every person he encountered.
Billy’s character—defined by integrity, honesty, and respect—left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was not just a loving husband to his wife of 53 years, Carol, but a dedicated father, grandfather, and mentor. Whether at work, in worship, or among neighbors, he lived by example—reminding us all that Service to Mankind is not merely a phrase, but a daily way of being.
An Enduring Legacy
Billy believed strongly in addressing social justice and community betterment. He carried pride in his heritage and instilled in those around him the importance of humility, grace, and generosity. One of his favorite expressions—“Your ego is not your amigo”—remains a testament to his grounded perspective on life and service.
As we reflect on the life of William “Billy” Parkman, we celebrate a true English High School son whose faith, family values, and commitment to others will continue to inspire our community for generations to come. May his example remind us all that a life of service—quiet, sincere, and steadfast—is a life well lived.
