Chair’s Start of Year message
Dear English High Alumni and Friends,
As we look ahead, the English High School Alumni Association remains deeply committed to strengthening the connection between our proud legacy and the future success of our students. In a world that continues to change rapidly—and at times feels uncertain—our mission is clearer than ever: we must invest in the young people who will carry forward the tradition of “Service to Mankind.”
Our direction is focused and intentional. We are placing a strong emphasis on the growth and impact of The Alumni and Friends Tutoring Center, ensuring that students have the academic support they need to succeed.
- Students using The Center have a 92% matriculation rate into college
- 1:12 ratio of tutors to students
- 574 – average total tutor-to-student interactions/year
At the same time, we are working to expand our scholarship offerings so that more students can pursue higher education without financial barriers. Every scholarship awarded is not just an investment in one student—it is an investment in families, communities, and the future. We awarded $14,500 in scholarships in 2025 and we are looking for more Alumni to set up their family scholarships.
Alumni have stepped up and donated scrubs and medical equipment for the past 4 years to the Pathways Health Assisting and Wellness program. We are looking for other alumni to assist with the Pathways programs listed below:
- Business/Finance/Entrepreneurship
- Design & Visual Communications
- Health Assisting and Wellness
- Programming and Web
- Legal & Protective Services
We also recognize the importance of supporting the full student experience. That means raising funds to assist our dedicated teachers and coaches, who go above and beyond every day, and provide resources for all of our programs.
To support our many programs at English, please chose from one of the focused Funds listed below:
- Alumni and Friends Tutoring Center Fund
- Setting up a Family or memorial scholarship
- Teachers’ Fund
- Sport Teams Fund
- Pathway Programs Fund
