EHSA Announces the New $50,000 Sara and Edward J. Thomas Family Scholarship

English High alumnus Edward J. Thomas

Edward Thomas, recently deceased, had been a robust supporter of English High’s recent 200th Anniversary Gala and the English High School Association. He attended English in the 1950’s and reconnected with EHSA in 2022.  His deceased wife, Sara Thomas, was nurse supervisor at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California for some forty years. Sara’s career influence had been felt in the Mountain View medical community: training nurses and interns; her patient kindness is well documented. This scholarship will ensure Sara’s legacy of caring, and Edward’s legacy of largess will live on at English High School.

Ed’s generous gift will result in an in-perpetuity annual scholarship for an English High School senior who has expressed interest in business or the medical field and who aspires to one of those interests in college or as a career.  Special consideration may be given to a student from English High’s Career Pathways Health Assisting course.

We are deeply grateful to Ed for his generosity and commitment to our mission of supporting today’s English High students. His legacy will endure through the education and opportunities his gift will provide to EHS students, and in the countless lives they will impact in the future.
