English High Alumnus Brigadier General Enoch “Woody” Woodhouse Returns to Fenway for Ceremonial First Pitch

The English High School Alumni Association proudly congratulates Brigadier General Enoch “Woody” Woodhouse, Class of 1944, who once again had the honor of throwing out a ceremonial first pitch at Fenway Park before the Boston Red Sox game on June 19, 2026, in celebration of Juneteenth. Joining fellow Tuskegee Airman Dr. Harold May, Woody received a standing ovation as the two legendary veterans were recognized for their extraordinary military service and lifelong commitment to their communities.

This marks the second time Woody has been invited to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at Fenway, having first received the honor in 2022. Now 99 years old, Woody continues to inspire generations through his remarkable life story—from graduating from English High School in 1944, to serving as one of the famed Tuskegee Airmen during World War II, and later becoming a retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General and tireless advocate for education, equality, and service.

We encourage alumni and friends to learn more about Woody’s extraordinary life and accomplishments by visiting his profile on the English High School Alumni Association website: Enoch “Woody” Woodhouse Profile.

Congratulations, Woody! Your continued leadership, patriotism, and dedication make the entire English High School community proud. Thank you for representing English High with such distinction on one of baseball’s greatest stages.
