Wayne Lucas
Class of ’68

Treasurer

As a native of Boston, MA, Wayne grew up going to schools in the Boston School system.  The years he spent at Boston English High were the turning point and foundation of his life.  Reflecting over the years of life experiences and challenges, he realized that his life has been centered around family, education, sports, giving back and contributing to others through is work life, hobbies and activities.

Wayne was a lettered-member of the varsity cross-country and track teams, being team captains in his junior and senior years.  He attended University of Massachusetts in Amherst, where he received a BA in American History.  Throughout Wayne’s college years, he continued his passion for sports by being a member of the UMass Amherst cross-country and track teams.

Wayne taught American History for one year in the Boston Public School system before being hired by the United States Postal Service (USPS).  He retired from the USPS after 33 years.  During his professional work life up to today, Wayne has volunteered with organizations such as Big Brothers Program, Boston Neighborhood Basketball League, The Big Brothers of the Elderly, to name a few.

In Wayne’s retired life, unfortunately, he cannot run track, but he continues to work in the sports world by being a member of various sports official organizations, (EMUBA, IAABO, EMWLUA and BSB).  He is honored for the consideration to be on the Boston English High Alumni Board.  Staying involved, staying active and giving to others is Wayne’s life-time motto.
